Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know about how Catherine Peck jewelry is made, ordered, and cared for — answered honestly, in plain language.

What makes Catherine Peck different from other fine jewelry brands? +

Catherine Peck is a founder-led jewelry house built on a single conviction: fine jewelry should be worn, not saved. Every piece is designed for daily life — not special occasions, not display cases.

The brand is anchored by a signature technique: laser-drilled floating diamonds, hand-configured to order. There is no warehouse, no bulk production, and no markdowns. Each piece is made when you order it, in the metal and configuration you choose.

Catherine comes from a background in technology and taught herself jewelry design and gemology. That combination — systems thinking meets material craft — shapes every decision, from alloy selection to chain weight.

How does the ordering process work? +

All Catherine Peck pieces are made to order. When you purchase, you configure your piece — diamond shape, carat weight, metal, and chain — and production begins. Standard lead time is three to six weeks, which reflects the time required to make your piece properly.

You will receive updates throughout the process. If you have questions about a specific configuration before ordering, reach out directly — we're happy to talk it through.

Do you offer custom and bespoke pieces? +

Yes. Bespoke design is one of the three pillars of the brand and one of the most meaningful things we do.

Bespoke appointments are for clients who want something designed specifically for them — whether that's an engagement ring, a significant personal piece, or a custom interpretation of an existing design. These are private consultations, conducted with Catherine directly.

To inquire about a bespoke appointment, use the contact form or reach out via Instagram. We'll respond within 48 hours to schedule.

What is your lead time? +

Standard made-to-order pieces ship in three to six weeks. Bespoke and custom pieces vary depending on the complexity of the design — timelines are discussed and confirmed at your consultation.

If you have a specific date in mind — a birthday, anniversary, or event — contact us before ordering and we will let you know honestly whether it's achievable.

Do you offer rush orders? +

Occasionally, depending on production capacity at the time of your inquiry. Rush requests are handled case by case and are not guaranteed. Please contact us directly before placing your order if timing is critical.

What metals do you work in? +

Our core collection is offered in 10 karat yellow, rose, and white gold. For bespoke pieces, we work in 14k and 18k as well, depending on the design requirements and client preference.

Each karat is a deliberate choice with different properties. If you're unsure which is right for you, see the question on gold karats below — or reach out and we'll help you decide.

Does your jewelry contain nickel? +

It depends on the metal you choose.

Our 10k yellow and 10k rose gold are nickel-free. Both are alloyed with copper-based blends and are generally well-tolerated, even by those with metal sensitivities.

Our 10k white gold does contain nickel — 10.3% — which is the industry-standard alloy used to achieve white gold's characteristic brightness and hardness. If you have a known nickel sensitivity or have experienced reactions to white gold jewelry in the past, we recommend choosing yellow or rose gold instead.

If you're unsure which metal is right for you, reach out before you order. Getting the metal right matters as much as getting the design right — and it's exactly the kind of conversation we're here for.

What is the difference between 10k, 14k, and 18k gold? +

Karats measure the ratio of pure gold to strengthening alloy metals. 24k is pure gold — too soft for everyday jewelry. Every karat below 24 is an intentional blend engineered for durability and wearability.

10k contains 41.7% pure gold. It is the hardest and most durable form of gold classified as fine jewelry in the United States — the right choice for jewelry worn daily without thought.

14k contains 58.3% pure gold. It is the US industry standard for fine jewelry, balancing gold richness with everyday durability.

18k contains 75% pure gold. It has a warmer, richer color and is the European standard. It is more delicate than lower karats and better suited to pieces worn with intention rather than constantly.

Our core collection uses 10k because we design for daily life. If you want a different karat for a specific piece, discuss it with us during a bespoke consultation.

Do you do bridal and engagement rings? +

Yes. Bridal is a significant part of our bespoke practice.

Engagement rings and wedding bands are designed in private consultation with Catherine. We work with you on the full design — stone selection, setting style, metal, and finish — to create something made specifically for your relationship.

Bridal consultations are by appointment. Reach out to begin the conversation.

Do you offer resizing? +

Yes, for most pieces. Ring resizing is available within a reasonable range depending on the setting style and metal. Contact us with your order details and we will advise on what's possible and the associated cost.

Do you ever have sales or run discounts? +

No. Catherine Peck does not run public sales, sitewide discounts, or clearance events — ever.

Scarcity in this brand is created through limited-edition drops and made-to-order production, not price cuts. If you see a Catherine Peck piece offered at a discount somewhere, it is not coming from us.

Periodic collection drops are announced via email and Instagram. Signing up for the list is the best way to be notified when new work becomes available.

How do I care for my jewelry? +

Fine gold jewelry is durable, but a few habits will keep it looking its best.

Remove pieces before applying lotions, perfumes, or chemical products. Clean gently with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. Store pieces separately to avoid scratching.

For floating diamond pieces specifically: the laser-drilled setting is secure by design, but avoid ultrasonic cleaners, which can stress the setting over time. If you ever have concerns about a stone, contact us and we'll assess it.

How do I get in touch? +
